England find themselves up against it after three days of the Second Ashes Test, despite a good fight back with the ball in the final session.

Joe Root’s men began the day on 29/1, hoping to bat all day and get close to the 442 that Australia had scored in their first innings. However, the tourists lost wickets at regular intervals and were eventually bowled out for 227, leaving them a huge 215 runs in arrears.

Steve Smith decided not to enforce the follow on and at the end of the day, his side were 52/4 after some great bowling from England.

Australia are still in a great position, leading by 267, but England will be pleased with how they bowled and Smith might just be regretting not putting England back in.
