After ending the first day of the Third Ashes Test match on 305/4, England went into the second day at the WACA hoping to press home their advantage.
The day started well as Dawid Malan and Jonny Bairstow continued their good form but yet again, the lower order was blown away.
England went from 368/4 to 403 all out, losing six wickets for just 35 runs.
In reply, Australia ended the day on 203/3, trailing by exactly 200 runs.
Here’s how the players rated on Day Two:
Dawid Malan - 7
Played nicely in the morning to move to 140 before making a bit of a mess of an attacking shot against Nathan Lyon, although it did take a very good catch to get him out.
Jonny Bairstow - 9
Played some excellent shots to reach 119, showing a lot of emotion as he reached 100. Bowled by a very good ball from Mitchell Starc.
Moeen Ali - 3
Was out second ball playing a nothing shot to a pretty ordinary ball from Pat Cummins.
His bowling was steady but didn’t really look threatening.
Chris Woakes - 6
Looked in decent nick at first before getting out in a very unusual way, hitting a leg side delivery on the full to the man in the boundary.
Bowled a bit short at first but came back pretty well to get Khawaja LBW.
Craig Overton - 7
Bounced out by Josh Hazlewood.
Got the ball full to David Warner, who edged him behind, then removed his opening partner Cameron Bancroft with another full ball that got him LBW on review.
Had to go off the field for a while with what looked like a rib injury.
Stuart Broad - 4
Went on the attack against some hostile bowling as he hit a huge six before he too was bounced out.
Didn’t look at his best with the ball and never really looked like getting anyone out.
James Anderson - 5
Bowled with decent control but couldn’t get the ball to move and when that’s the case, he doesn’t look anywhere near the same bowler.
Mitchell Starc - 7
Bowled a beauty to remove Bairstow before bouncing Broad out. He might not always be at his best but he’s a genuine wicket taker and he showed that again.
Josh Hazlewood - 6
Got a bit fortunate with the delivery to remove Woakes before getting Overton with a short ball.
Pat Cummins - 6
Got Moeen Ali edging to slip and took a good catch in the deep to remove Woakes.
Nathan Lyon - 6
Kept control pretty well and his wicket of Malan sparked the England collapse.
David Warner - 5
Got to 22 pretty comfortably before edging a full ball from Overton, he was furious with himself as he trudged off.
Cameron Bancroft - 5
Similar to Warner, he looked in good touch to reach 25 but he was trapped LBW by Overton and his footwork was pretty questionable to say the least.
Usman Khawaja - 7
Was nearly out caught and bowled very early in his innings but Overton couldn’t quite manage to hold what would have been an amazing catch. He was lucky not to be caught at slip too, but showed good patience to reach 50 before being trapped LBW by Woakes.
Steve Smith - 10
Looked very dangerous from very early on, proving why he’s the best batsman in the world at the moment. Got to 92* in just 122 balls and didn’t even give England a chance. A faultless innings from a magnificent player.
Shaun Marsh - 6
Came in late in the day and whilst he was nearly caught when the ball looped up off short leg’s boot, he looked solid.
