Australia went into Day Three of the Third Ashes Test match still trailing England by 200 runs.
By the end of play, they had a lead of 146 runs with six wickets remaining as they ended the day on a mammoth 549/4.
England are looking down the barrel of a whitewash and will need to show some resiliency if they are to avoid defeat in Perth.
Here’s how we rated the players after Day Three at the WACA:
Steve Smith - 10
It’s difficult to keep coming up with new ways of describing just how good Smith is. He was phenomenal once again as he moved to 229*. England simply have no idea how to get him out if the ball isn’t swinging and he’s reaching unprecedented levels of success as a batsman.
Shaun Marsh - 6
Played well to get to 28 before edging Moeen Ali to slip, the only wicket to fall all day.
Mitch Marsh - 10
Back in the side and justified his place by hitting his maiden Test hundred and he didn’t stop there, ending the day on 181*. He was positive from pretty much the moment he got to the middle and he and Smith dominated England.
James Anderson - 3
Went at less than three an over, which is admirable on such a flat surface but he didn’t look like getting anyone out.
Stuart Broad - 2
Looks a shadow of his former self. The effort is there but he simply doesn’t look like taking wickets and his pace is well down.
Chris Woakes - 2
Same as the other seamers really; worked hard but when the ball doesn’t move, he looks too easy to play against.
Craig Overton - 3
Probably the bowler who troubled Smith the most but still was too easy to score off. His injury looks like it’s bothering him.
Moeen Ali - 3
Took the wicket of Shaun Marsh with a ball that drifted and took the edge. Other than that, it was same-old, same-old from Moeen; plenty of stock balls before the inevitable poor delivery that gets punished.
