Rashid moves away from first class cricket
Leg spinner Adil Rashid has moved away from first class cricket, as he signs a white ball-only contract with Yorkshire, per the Telegraph.
Rashid, 29, has been a Yorkshire player his entire career, and county officials saw fit to keep hold of the Bradford-native by altering his contract to become something of a white-ball freelancer.
Despite having 490 wickets in 166 first class matches and ten England test caps, Rashid is looking at white ball cricket to perhaps elongate his career.
Rashid has 165 appearances in List A cricket, with an impressive bowling average of 30.94.
“Dilly” is also a critical part of the England ODI team, with 59 caps.
Despite not being picked in the IPL auction or the Pakistan Super League player draft, the signing of this contract will send a statement to limited overs teams around the world that Rashid is both ready and willing to play in these formats.
Boasting an excellent stock ball and googly, teams on the subcontinent may indeed be interested in acquiring Rashid to utilise the low bounce and large amount of turn their pitches are famous for offering.
