Kagiso Rabada awaiting decision on suspension after five hour hearing
South Africa bowler Kagiso Rabada is waiting for the result of his appeal against his two-Test ban after a five-hour long hearing, according to a report on Sky Sports.
The bowler was given a two-Test suspension by the ICC but decided to appeal the charge.
The first charge was against him because he brushed shoulders with Australia captain Steve Smith after dismissing him, however, Rabada claims that the contact was purely accidental.
The second charge against him was for an excessive celebration of a wicket right in front of the Australia batsman.
Rabada spoke of his regret about his actions but is confident that he can have the ban wiped away before the start of the third Test.
The decision from the hearing will be given within 48 hours, just in time before the third Test which begins on Thursday.
The series is currently finely poised at 1-1, with Rabada producing a Man of the Match performance to help South Africa level the series.
If the ban is not overturned then it will be a huge loss for South Africa, who have built some momentum in this series after going behind.
Rabada had the hearing via teleconference with judicial commissioner Michael Heron of New Zealand.
