England cricketer Jason Roy has revealed that the England batsmen need to be smarter if they are to get back to winning ways against New Zealand, according to report on The Cricketer.
England has lost both of their T20 tri-series fixtures against Australia and the batsmen have looked unconvincing when called upon.
Roy himself has also been under-performing with the bat and is hoping that he and his fellow batsmen can begin to find some rhythm again when they face New Zealand.
We’ve under-performed as a team and because of that we’ve got a bee in our bonnet.
We want to make sure the next game is a strong performance. It’s not just about being aggressive and hitting the ball out of the park, it’s recognising we have got the firepower and being smarter with it.
Playing aggressive cricket, an aggressive brand and all that, that’s not just what we’re about. In the past we’ve played a lot smarter cricket. It’s been hugely frustrating because of the line-up we’ve got.
Roy has revealed that the players are determined to bounce back from the two losses when they face New Zealand in Wellington on Tuesday.
They will face the Kiwis once more in Hamilton on Sunday and could still make it to the final if results go their way.
