Australia announce contracts as they build for World Cup
Australia have given Alex Carey and Jhye Richardson contracts as they look towards the 2019 World Cup, as reported by ESPN.
Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft have both been removed from the list after receiving bans for their actions in the ball tampering scandal.
Their suspensions will have finished by the time the World Cup begins, but have missed out on receiving contracts from Cricket Australia.
Wicket-keeper Tim Paine has been rewarded with a deal after a number of fine performances for his country this winter, and is set to be one of the highest earners in the team.
A number of other players have found their names on the list for the first time, including all rounder Marcus Stoinis, wicket-keeper Alex Carey and the fast-bowling Richardsons – Kane and Jhye.
Nathan Lyon has been selected as the spinner in this group with Ashton Agar and Adam Zampa both being overlooked for the opportunity.
