Seven emerging talents from the IPL
Looking back at the eventful IPL, there were no doubt some emerging performers that stunned crowds helped their sides win games with significant contributions.
1. Rahul Chahar:
A necessary addition to this list, the 19-year-old defied all odds by taking 13 wickets from 13 matches, at an impressive economy rate of 6.55. Chahar also delivered an excellent performance in the IPL final, showing that the young man could play very well under pressure.
2. Jofra Archer:
This English cricketer had given us glimpses of his talent in the IPL last year, however this year, with a great economy, he helped his team at crucial times to keep the run flow intact.
3. Shubhman Gill:
Gill was a pivotal part of the Under 19 World Cup squad for India who eventually lifted the trophy, and though KKR took some time to promote him up the order, when they did, he truly consolidated his position with a couple of fifties, including a match-winning innings.
4. Prithvi Shaw:
A teammate of Gill, this player managed to score 353 runs in just 16 matches for DC. Though he had a rocky season, he showed promise with important fifties and an unfortunate 99.
5. Shreyas Gopal:
This mystery spinner averted all eyes to him with his performances in IPL 2019. Taking 20 wickets from 14 matches, he also claimed a hat-trick, which almost won his team the match.
6. Riyan Parag:
The youngest ever player in IPL history to score a half-century. The 17-year-old from Assam showed immense confidence in his game, attracting views from all over the world.
7. Sam Curran:
A 20-year-old from England, Sam Curran contributed significantly to KXIP, with bat and ball. He scored an important half-century when his team was in dire need, and also took a hat-trick to help KXIP win in a losing cause.
