We at ReadCricket.com feel that excellence needs to be highlighted, so we came up with the ReadCricket.com Player of the Week.
IPL Performances
There are have been some special performances in the IPL over the past week. Teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored 78 off 26 balls for Rajasthan Royals, Ahbishek Sharma scored 74 off 28 balls for Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Shreyas Iyer scored 69 off 33 balls for Punjab Kings. But the highest score of the week goes to Sanju Samson of Chennai Super Kings with 115* off 56 balls.
With the ball, Jamie Overton took 4–18 for CSK, while Prasidh Krishna claimed 4–28 for Gujarat Titans. However, the standout bowling performances of the week came from two IPL debutants: Praful Hinge (4–34) and Sakib Hussain (4–24), both picking up four wickets for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

County Championship
This week has seen some outstanding performances, from centuries and double hundreds to match winning spells. Here are just a few that came into contention. Be sure to check out our full review of last weekend’s County Championship action here.
Batting
Jamie Smith and Ollie Pope both scored centuries in the first innings of their County Championship match with Leicestershire. In the same match, Leicestershire’s opener Rishi Patel scored 164, Ben Cox scored a career high 162, and Steven Eskinazi scored his 11th career century.
Jack Leaning scored a match-winning 120* for Sussex as they beat Warwickshire by 5 wickets, chasing 328 for the win.
Bowling
With the ball, Former South African International Kyle Abbott took match figures of 10-70, as his Hampshire side beat Yorkshire. Craig Overton took 4-81 in the match and scored 141 with the bat as he helped Somerset beat Essex inside three days.
Ryan Higgins took 7-107 in the match for Middlesex, and Olly Hannon-Dalby took 6-99 for Worcestershire, as Worcestershire won by 57 runs at Lords.
Winning Player
There were two standout performances that eclipsed even those listed above.
Ben McKinney scored 244 for Durham, as they amassed 605-5, and beat Gloucestershire by an innings and 225 runs. In the same innings, fellow opener Alex Lees scored 129 in a 305 run opening partnership. David Bedingham also scored 118.
However, the winner of the first readcricket.com player of the week award is Northamptonshire’s captain Luke Procter. He scored a career high 261* as his side scored a massive 684-2dec. He shared a 224 run opening partnership with Ricardo Vasconcelos (127).
