Teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi could become India’s youngest ever international if he is selected for India’s Mens upcoming T20 tour of Ireland in June.

India are scheduled to play two matches on 26th and 28th June, and Sooryavanshi is “in contention for the Ireland tour and the selectors have shortlisted his name along with those of may other players”, according to a BCCI source.

Sooryavanshi was born 27th March 2011 in Tajpur, in the Mithila region of Bihar. He made his first class debut for Bihar in January 2024, scoring 19 and 12.

Youngest Indian International

If selected, Sooryavanshi will become the youngest ever to play for India at 15 years old. Sachin Tendulkar, who is perhaps the greatest ever player, made his debut aged 16. He is already the youngest player to play in the IPL, when he signed for Rajasthan Royals at 13 years 243 days old.

Career Highlights

Sooryavanshi shows no fear when he is batting. He made his debut for India U19’s in September 2024 against Australia u19’s, and scored a 58-ball century on debut. In the U19 World Cup earlier this year, he scored a total of 439 runs with an average of 62.71, including 175 off 80 balls against England in the final, that India won by 100 runs.

He has also scored a massive 332* in the Randhir Verma Tournament in his home state.

IPL Highlights

He has only played 12 IPL matches, but he is already must watch. In those 12 matches, he has scored 452 runs off 198 balls, with a strike rate of 228.28! He has one century and three 50’s as well.

With his first ball in the IPL 2025, making his debut, he hit Shardul Thakur for six, on his way to 34 off 20 balls. Just two games later, he became the youngest ever centurion in the IPL when he scored 101 off 38 balls against Gujarat Titans, the second fastest ever behind Chris Gayle (30 balls).

This season, he is currently third in the race for the Orange Cap with 200 runs in five innings, 24 runs behind the leader Heinrich Klaasen. His highest score so far is 78 off 26 balls against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

There is a lot of excitement surrounding this young superstar, and quite rightly so. We at ReadCricket.com will be following his career closely.
