IPL Match Report SRH: Abhishek Sharma Leads Record-Breaking Charge

Batting with notable control across the full 20 overs, Abhishek Sharma guided Sunrisers to a commanding 242 for 2. The total proved well beyond Delhi, who managed 195 for 9 in reply.

The innings marked Abhishek’s ninth T20 century, bringing him level with Virat Kohli among Indian players. It was an effort built on composure early and calculated aggression through the middle overs.

Calm start, explosive shift

Sunrisers began with measured intent. Abhishek and Travis Head moved to 26 for 0 after 3 overs, prioritising stability before accelerating.

The change in tempo came swiftly. Abhishek took charge against the change bowlers, and when Nitish Rana was introduced, he responded with back-to-back sixes to lift the momentum. By the end of the powerplay, Sunrisers had advanced to 67 for 0 in 6 overs.

Middle overs domination

Head contributed a fluent 37, but the innings belonged to Abhishek. He combined effectively with Ishan Kishan, whose quick-fire 25 off 13 balls helped maintain pressure.

A decisive passage came against Kuldeep Yadav, whose over went for 22 runs. Soon after, Abhishek brought up his century in just 47 balls, dispatching Rana for 23 runs in a single over.

Klaasen adds late surge

At 115* after 15 overs, Abhishek looked set to push even further, but his scoring rate dipped slightly in the closing stages, adding 20 runs from his final 17 balls. That slowdown was offset by Heinrich Klaasen, who hammered 37* off 13 balls to carry Sunrisers to 242 for 2.

Delhi Capitals Fall Short as SRH Dominate in Hyderabad

Delhi’s response never gathered sustained momentum. Dilshan Madushanka impressed on debut, troubling the batters with movement and variation.

Nitish Rana top-scored with 57, while KL Rahul offered brief support, but the required rate kept climbing.

The game turned decisively when Eshan Malinga and Sakib Hussain struck in quick succession. Rahul fell first, before Malinga removed Rana and David Miller in the same over.

Malinga’s clever mix of pace-off deliveries and reverse swing earned him figures of 4 for 32, effectively sealing the contest.

Sunrisers close it out

Harsh Dubey added late impact with 3 for 12 in the final over as Delhi finished on 195 for 9.

The result sees Sunrisers Hyderabad strengthen their position near the top of the table. At the centre of it was Abhishek, whose innings combined maturity with flair to set up a comprehensive win.
