- Worcestershire strengthen squad despite Swanepoel clearance
Worcestershire have secured a timely boost to their bowling ranks after extending the loan of experienced seamer Olly Hannon-Dalby through to the conclusion of the opening County Championship block.
The move ensures continuity for Alan Richardson’s side following what has already been an impressive short stint from the Warwickshire man.
Initially drafted in as cover amid uncertainty surrounding Beyers Swanepoel’s availability, Hannon-Dalby has quickly made himself a valuable presence both on and off the field.
Worcestershire have resolved Swanepoel’s situation after he received his no-objection certificate, and he should feature in Friday’s clash with Kent. Still, the club have kept faith with Hannon-Dalby because of his early impact and the depth he gives the squad.

Hannon-Dalby Loan Extended: Strengthens Worcestershire Attack
Richardson spoke warmly about the veteran’s contribution, praising not only his performances but also his professionalism since arriving at the club, telling the club’s official website:
“He has settled in straight away and delivered two outstanding performances.
“His quality and experience have been clear for everyone to see, and we are delighted he will remain with us for the next four matches.”
Hannon-Dalby will now feature in key Division Two fixtures against Northamptonshire and Lancashire, along with a home match against Durham, who could include England captain Ben Stokes.
Hannon-Dalby Loan Extended After Strong Early Impact
The extension stands as a separate agreement rather than reflecting Swanepoel’s status, giving Worcestershire greater flexibility as they manage a demanding run of fixtures.
There is further encouragement for the Pears with Adam Finch expected to return to fitness after a concussion sustained in the recent victory at Lord’s.
Back at Warwickshire, competition among the seamers remains fierce, allowing Worcestershire to benefit from the availability of a proven performer. For now, Hannon-Dalby’s stay provides both stability and momentum as Richardson’s side look to build on a promising start.
