- Glamorgan’s first Division One win in 21 years
- Nottinghamshire and Surrey Win
- Yorkshire surprise Somerset
The last day of the County Championship games usually brings with it a fair bit of drama – last week not so much. This week, however, all four games had positive results, including Glamorgan’s first win in Division One for 21 years…
Hampshire v Glamorgan
Glamorgan began the day needing five more wickets, while Hampshire still required 204 runs to make Glamorgan bat again, leaving Glamorgan supporters hopeful of a win.
That win came just after lunch, as Hampshire were bowled out for 253, losing by an innings and 69 runs. Ben Brown top scored with 96, and other than Toby Albert’s 36 at the top of the innings, no one else did much with the bat.
With the ball, Timm van der Gugten took 3 for 65, and Mason Crane also claimed 3 for 48. Ryan Hadley with 2 for 36 and Jamie McIlroy with 2 for 39 took the remaining wickets.
Hampshire sit rock bottom of the Division One table, while this win has moved Glamorgan up to fifth. Next up, Glamorgan face Somerset at home, whereas Hampshire make the short trip to Essex.

Somerset v Yorkshire
Yorkshire began the day on 365 for 9 and added just six more runs before being bowled out for 371, setting Somerset 260 to win with almost a full day to chase it. Matthew Revis took the final wicket to finish with figures of 2 for 36
Somerset lost quick wickets at the start of the innings, as Archie Vaughan (4), Tom Lammonby (4), James Rew (2) and Tom Abell (41) were all back in the pavilion with the score on 85.
That put Somerset onto the back foot and they never recovered. Joshua Thomas scored 57, and Thomas Rew scored 30 but Somerset were all out for 184, losing by 75 runs.
Spin led the way for Yorkshire, with Dom Bess taking 4 for 60 and Joe Root 4 for 49, while George Hill claimed the other two wickets with figures of 2 for 27.
Yorkshire move up to seventh with this win, while Somerset drop to third. Yorkshire travel to Edgbaston to face Warwickshire, and Somerset head to Glamorgan.

Leicestershire v Nottinghamshire
Leicestershire began the day 33 runs ahead, but Nottinghamshire needed only three more wickets to win. Ben Green made 37 and added a few runs, but the last three wickets fell quickly as Leicestershire were bowled out for 254, setting Nottinghamshire 73 to win.
Liam Patterson-White led the Nottinghamshire attack with 5 for 53, while Olly Stone finished with match figures of 8 for 109. It took just 15.2 overs for Nottinghamshire to seal a ten wicket win, with Ben Slater scoring 52 not out off 55 balls and Haseeb Hameed 22 not out off 37.
Nottinghamshire move to the top of the table with the win, while Leicestershire drop to ninth. Nottinghamshire face Surrey at Trent Bridge next, while Leicestershire travel to Hove to take on Sussex.

Surrey v Sussex
Sussex began the day in trouble on 76 for 4, still 188 runs behind Surrey with only six wickets in hand. As in the first innings, Jack Carson made 48 and Ollie Robinson 42 to offer some resistance, while Charlie Tear top scored with 61.
Tom Haines returned after passing concussion protocols and was unbeaten on 20. It was not enough, however, as Sussex were bowled out for 277, leaving Surrey just 14 runs to win.
Matthew Fisher with 3 for 52 and Jordan Clark with 3 for 40 were the pick of the bowlers, while Sean Abbott took 2 for 49. Dan Lawrence and Reece Topley took a wicket each.
A target of 14 looked straightforward, but Surrey slipped to 2 for 1 after Rory Burns made 1 and Ryan Patel was out for 0. Dom Sibley with 4 not out and Ollie Pope with 10 not out saw Surrey home by eight wickets, while James Coles took 2 for 7.
Surrey move up to second with their first win of the season, while Sussex drop to sixth after their first defeat. Surrey travel to Trent Bridge to face Nottinghamshire next, and Sussex host Leicestershire.
