Kieron Pollard has passed Chris Gayle to become the leading run-scorer in T20 cricket history after reaching 14,582 runs during MI New York’s Major League Cricket match against Washington Freedom in Dallas.
The former West Indies captain moved beyond Gayle’s long-standing mark of 14,562 while making 100 from 56 balls for MI New York, according to a fresh update from Cricbuzz on Pollard’s T20 record.
Pollard’s milestone arrived in a remarkable MLC fixture that still ended in defeat for MI New York, with Washington Freedom winning by 30 runs after posting 245-5. Mitchell Owen’s 155 from 68 balls shaped the result, but Pollard’s innings gave the night its wider historical weight.
Pollard record underlines T20 longevity
Pollard’s achievement is about more than one innings. He has now played more than 700 T20 matches across international cricket and franchise leagues, building a career around middle-order power, finishing skill and rare durability.
Gayle’s place as the format’s defining batter remains secure, but Pollard overtaking him shifts the statistical summit. Alex Hales, Jos Buttler, David Warner and Virat Kohli are also part of the 14,000-run group, yet Pollard now sits above them all.
For MI New York, the defeat will sting. For Pollard, this was another line in a career that has stretched across eras, continents and almost every major T20 competition.
