Suryansh Shedge and Prince Yadav have been handed India T20I debuts in Belfast, giving Shreyas Iyer’s side a sharper selection edge for the second match against Ireland.
The BCCI listed the pair as India’s T20I caps No. 120 and 121 in its official video update on Sunday, 28 June, before the series finale at the Civil Service Cricket Club. It follows India’s urgent Belfast response brief after Ireland’s opening win forced the tourists into a visible recalibration.
Why India’s Double Debut Matters
Iyer confirmed at the toss that Shedge and Prince had come into the XI, with Rediff reporting the captain’s praise for Shedge’s domestic and IPL work and Prince’s adaptability. That is the key tactical layer: India have not just rotated, they have added a fast-bowling all-rounder and a specialist pace option while leaving Vaibhav Sooryavanshi waiting again.
Shedge’s promotion completes a rapid turn from replacement call-up to senior debut after he was brought in for the injured Nitish Kumar Reddy, a move ReadCricket covered when his India T20I squad call arrived. Prince’s inclusion, meanwhile, gives India another live pace option before the England T20I leg begins.
The immediate pressure remains clear: Ireland already changed the tone of the series. India’s answer is now built around two fresh caps, a deeper bowling mix, and an unmistakable message that reputations alone will not settle selection.
