Sri Lanka have turned Lahiru Udara’s 188 into a near-total grip on the second Test after declaring on 549-9 and leaving West Indies 58-1 at stumps in Antigua.
The Cricbuzz scorecard had Sri Lanka 491 runs ahead at the close, with John Campbell unbeaten on 31 and Kavem Hodge 6 not out after Asitha Fernando removed Brandon King.
Dinusha Miss Leaves West Indies Longer Route
ReadCricket had already tracked how Udara’s 188 gave Sri Lanka control, but day two made the gap far harder for West Indies to close.
Kusal Mendis added 69 and Sonal Dinusha made 92, missing a maiden Test hundred but extending the innings deep enough for Sri Lanka to dictate the final session. That mattered because West Indies were forced to bat under scoreboard pressure rather than simply reset the match.
The only wicket in reply was still enough to keep Sri Lanka’s route clear. King edged Fernando to second slip for 17, and while Campbell absorbed 77 balls, West Indies ended the day needing a huge first-innings response just to drag the contest back toward parity.
The missed chances late in the day will irritate Sri Lanka, but they did not loosen the match state. West Indies are still negotiating a first innings that already looks like damage limitation.
For Sri Lanka, the assignment on day three is blunt: make the second new-ball spell count, keep Campbell pinned down, and turn a 491-run advantage into a series-shaping push.
