England Beat India By 56 Runs To Seal 4-0 Sweep And No.1 T20I Ranking

England completed a 4-0 T20I series sweep of India on Saturday, winning the final match at the Rose Bowl by 56 runs to replace their opponents at the top of the ICC men’s T20I rankings.

According to ESPNcricinfo, Jos Buttler blasted 131 from 64 balls and Harry Brook struck an unbeaten 95 from 45 as England piled up 257 for 3 in Southampton, the pair sharing a 233-run second-wicket stand that IANS reports as the fourth-highest partnership in men’s T20I history.

India’s T20I Slump Deepens Despite Kishan And Tilak Varma Fifties

Sam Curran led the defence of the total with 3 for 36, with Adil Rashid and Liam Dawson providing key breakthroughs, as India closed on 201 for 8. Ishan Kishan hit 56 from 35 balls and Tilak Varma 53 from 25, but the chase never seriously threatened.

The result confirmed a 4-0 scoreline in a series whose opener in Chester-le-Street was washed out, after England had already clinched the series with a nine-wicket win in Bristol. The defeat was India’s sixth in a row in the format following their 2-0 loss in Ireland, as noted by IANS.

Buttler, whose century ended a long run without a fifty in T20Is, said afterwards that the win was a big achievement and that he was delighted with England’s rise to No.1, as reported by IANS.

India fly home winless in the shortest format, and the reigning world champions now face searching questions about their T20I direction before their next assignment.
