# Sri Lanka Salvage Fighting Draw After Dinusha Denies India

A resolute batting display ensured Sri Lanka salvage fighting draw after Dinusha denies India a 2-0 series whitewash at the Sinhalese Sports Club. Forced to follow on after India posted 503/9 declared, the hosts mounted an extraordinary comeback to finish on 429/9 declared on Day 5.

## Sri Lanka Salvage Fighting Draw After Dinusha Denies India

Resuming the final day only 16 runs ahead with four wickets left, Sonal Dinusha produced a defensive masterclass, making an unbeaten 133 off 264 balls. His crucial seventh-wicket partnership of 112 runs with Keshara Nuwantha, who made 46, provided a massive lift for Sri Lanka Cricket.

## Tailenders Provide Vital Resistance

Nuwantha was eventually removed by spinner Manav Suthar, who took 3/121 alongside Ravindra Jadeja’s 3/94. Nevertheless, tailender Lahiru Kumara absorbed 90 balls for his 12 runs. That stoic resistance blunted the India vs Sri Lanka contest and safeguarded the draw.

We were anticipating (rain), wanted to take that chance. Had we not taken and had it rained, you would have asked why no follow on,”
