# Bhuvneshwar Kumar targets India recall after consecutive IPL titles with RCB

Royal Challengers Bengaluru fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar has confirmed his availability for a national recall after experiencing a breakdown in communication with India’s selection committee.

## Selector Communication Breakdown Revealed

The 36-year-old last represented his country against New Zealand in November 2022. Speaking on Jatin Sapru’s podcast, Bhuvneshwar revealed selectors initially promised a swift return following their Adelaide semi-final exit.

“Till a few series,” he told [Hindustan Times](https://www.hindustantimes.com/cricket/i-felt-i-d-be-back-after-next-2-series-bhuvneshwar-kumar-reveals-how-he-realised-his-india-return-wasn-t-coming-101789451913210-amp.html). “Because I had received a call. What they said, based on that I felt maybe next two series. But then I realised it’s not what they said.”

The veteran seamer recalled telling his wife Nupur that his World Cup career had ended, accepting management needed to build for the next cycle.

## Back-To-Back Franchise Pedigree

Bhuvneshwar claimed 17 wickets during Bengaluru’s 2025 title campaign and took a further 28 at an average of 17.89 as they retained the trophy in May 2026. His renewed swing form presents a compelling case for a surprise squad inclusion.

India continue to assess their white-ball options, a process highlighted after [Sanju Samson’s early exit](https://readcricket.com/2026/09/13/jasprit-bumrah/) shifted top-order plans. Management must balance integrating youth with proven experience, particularly after a [fresh side strain sidelined](https://readcricket.com/2026/09/14/varun-chakaravarthy/) Varun Chakaravarthy against Afghanistan.

“I’m not playing to prove anything, but I’d be happy to play for India again,” Kumar confirmed via [CricTracker](https://www.crictracker.com/cricket-news/id-be-happy-to-play-for-india-again-bhuvneshwar-kumar-eyes-national-comeback-2025?amp=1).
