After 13 games so far in the IPL, the points table, and the race for the Orange and Purple Cap is hotting up nicely.
The Points Table
The Rajasthan Royals currently sit top of the points table, after winning all three of their games with six points. Second is the Punjab Kings, who have won two of their games, but lost a game due to rain the other day. Third is the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who have won both of their games and take on the currently leaders on Friday (10th April).
At the other end, five time winners Chennai Super Kings are bottom, having lost all three of their games. In ninth sit the Gujarat Titans, who have lost both their games, but play today against the Delhi Capitals. Eighth spot is the Kolkata Knight Riders, who have a point from the no result with Punjab Kings.
The Orange Cap
The Orange Cap is awarded to the batsmen who scores the most runs. Last year’s winner was Sai Sudharsan, who scored a massive 759 runs in 15 innings for the Gujarat Titans. Sudharsan is currently in 11th with 98 runs from three innings.
The current leader is Yashasvi Jaiswal of the Rajasthan Royals, who has 170 runs from three innings. Second is Sameer Rizvi of the Delhi Capitals. He could become the leader after today’s game, as he has 160 runs from two innings.
Third place is Heinrich Klaasen for the Sunrisers Hyderabad, with 145 runs from three innings. Rohit Sharma is fifth with 118 runs , and Virat Kohli is currently 12th with 97 runs from only two innings. Teen sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is fourth with 122 runs.
The Purple Cap
The Purple Cap is awarded to the bowler with the most wickets. Last season this award was won by Prasidh Krishna with 25 wickets in 15 innings. He currently sits in 11th spot with four wickets in two innings.
The current leader for the Purple Cap is Ravi Bishnoi of the Rajasthan Royals with seven wickets. He is two clear of four players, Nandre Burger (Rajasthan Royals), Vyshak Vijaykumar (Punjab Kings), Jacob Duffy (RCB) and Anshul Kamboj (CSK, all with five wickets.
Nine bowlers have four wickets, including Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Blessing Muzarabani and Lungisani Ngidi. Then 10 bowlers have three wickets each, including Jofra Archer, Mohammad Shami and Kagiso Rabada.
