SRH Bowling Coach Aaron Hails Abhishek Sharma

SRH bowling coach Varun Aaron expanded on the thinking behind the innings, speaking in the post-match press conference:

“Today, it wasn’t the surface where you could just go hell for leather every single ball. So you have to respect the opponent, you have to respect the surface and he did exactly that.”

Aaron emphasised that Abhishek’s ability to read the game and adjust his tempo was key to the innings, particularly on a pitch that demanded patience early on.

“I think he’s always had that maturity and that’s been there over the last couple of years. You can’t be the number one T20 batsman in the world without being mature.”

The innings saw Abhishek pace his effort expertly, beginning with caution before accelerating once set, a hallmark of top-tier T20 batting.

SRH Bowlers Back Up Big Total in Style

While Abhishek’s innings laid the platform, SRH’s bowling attack ensured there was no way back for Delhi. Sri Lankan pacer Eshan Malinga starred with figures of 4-32, dismantling the chase with pace, variation and precision.

He has also made a bright start to IPL 2026, recently earning a Player of the Match award against Chennai Super Kings with impressive figures of 3-29.

Young seamer Sakib Hussain also impressed with his control and clever use of slower deliveries. This reinforces Aaron’s belief in the squad’s bowling depth.

“They’ve got skills that set them apart from any other bowler. If we talk about Malinga, he gets the ball to reverse. And with Sakib, that slow ball is just brilliant.”

Aaron added that SRH had specifically targeted bowlers capable of adapting across conditions. That strategy is already paying dividends this season.

With momentum building and key players hitting form, Sunrisers Hyderabad now look like a side gathering pace at just the right time in IPL 2026.
