With the victory, Pakistan took an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. They also continued their impressive run in the ICC Women’s Championship 2025-29 campaign.
Pakistan Women Clinch Series Win Over Zimbabwe
After captain Fatima Sana chose to bat first, Pakistan’s openers wasted little time asserting control. Gull Feroza and Sadaf Shamas stitched together a superb 189-run partnership that laid the foundation for a towering total. The pair mixed elegance with authority as Zimbabwe’s bowlers struggled to contain the relentless scoring.
Feroza brought up her maiden ODI hundred in style from just 93 deliveries. She became the fastest Pakistan woman to reach the milestone in the format. Her sparkling innings of 100 came off 95 balls and featured 13 boundaries before she was eventually stumped in the 31st over.
At the other end, Shamas once again underlined her growing stature in Pakistan’s batting line-up. Fresh from a score of 98 in the opening ODI, the left-hander went one better with a composed 101 from 112 balls that included 10 fours and a six.
Feroza and Shamas Power Pakistan to 343
Pakistan’s middle order ensured the momentum never dipped. Sidra Amin added an unbeaten 59 from 58 balls to continue her prolific run in international cricket. Meanwhile, Aliya Riaz and Fatima Sana injected late fireworks with brisk cameos that pushed the home side beyond the 340-run mark.
The innings carried extra significance for Pakistan, who recorded their fourth consecutive ODI score above 300. It was also the side’s second-highest ODI total, falling just two runs short of their 345 scored against South Africa earlier this year.
Bowlers Wrap Up Record Victory
Pakistan’s bowlers struck early and never loosened their grip on the contest. Zimbabwe lost wickets regularly throughout the chase with only Kelis Ndhlovu showing early resistance through a patient 32. Runyararo Pasipanodya remained unbeaten on 33, but the visitors were unable to build any meaningful partnerships under mounting pressure.
Captain Fatima led from the front with the ball, claiming 3-15 in a disciplined spell. Momina Riasat, Rameen Shamim and Syeda Aroob Shah each picked up two wickets to complete a ruthless all-round display.
The margin of victory was Pakistan Women’s biggest-ever win by runs in ODI cricket, eclipsing their previous best of 193 runs against the Netherlands in 2011. Pakistan will now look to complete a clean sweep when the final ODI takes place in Karachi on Saturday.
