India’s return to New Zealand for Test cricket has become the sharpest point in NZC’s newly confirmed 2026-27 home programme.
The ICC’s schedule bulletin confirms India will play five T20Is, five ODIs and two Tests in New Zealand between October 22 and December 1. The board has framed it as the largest inbound international tour in New Zealand Cricket history by total matches.
That matters because the Tests, in Wellington from November 19-23 and Christchurch from November 27 to December 1, will be India’s first in New Zealand since 2019. For the BCCI and a side already balancing white-ball priorities before the 2027 Men’s Cricket World Cup, this is not just another bilateral stop.
Why The Schedule Carries Weight
New Zealand’s summer also includes Sri Lanka in January and February, with three ODIs, three T20Is and two Tests. The White Ferns will host Bangladesh for three T20Is and three ODIs in December.

For New Zealand, the India block is the commercial and competitive centrepiece. For India, it is a rare long-form away examination in conditions that expose top-order patience and seam-bowling depth.
ReadCricket recently assessed New Zealand’s red-ball momentum after their series win over England. This schedule now gives that form a bigger stage.
