England have named an unchanged XI for Tuesday’s third Vitality IT20 against India at Trent Bridge, keeping Harry Brook’s side intact after the four-wicket win at Old Trafford moved them 1-0 ahead in the five-match series.
The ECB confirmed the selection on Monday, two hours before this update, with Brook again captaining a side built around a heavy top order and a sharper pace profile than the team used in the opening match.
England keep faith after Manchester
The retained XI means Phil Salt and Jos Buttler stay at the top, with Brook, Jacob Bethell and Tom Banton forming the middle-order engine. Sam Curran and Will Jacks again cover the all-round balance, while Liam Dawson and Adil Rashid provide the spin options.
The most telling call is the continued use of Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue together. England started the series with Saqib Mahmood and Luke Wood, but the Trent Bridge side keeps the extra pace and bounce that helped close out India in Manchester.
Confirmed England XI
- Phil Salt
- Jos Buttler
- Harry Brook (captain)
- Jacob Bethell
- Tom Banton
- Sam Curran
- Will Jacks
- Liam Dawson
- Jofra Archer
- Adil Rashid
- Josh Tongue
England face India at Trent Bridge on Tuesday at 5.30pm, before the series moves to Bristol on Thursday and Southampton on Saturday. A second straight win would leave Brook’s side one result from closing out the series before the three-match ODI leg begins next week.
