England can wrap up the T20I series against India with a game to spare when the sides meet in tonight’s day-night fourth T20I in Bristol. Harry Brook’s men lead the five-match series 2-0, and another win at the County Ground would put the trophy beyond India’s reach.
England arrive on the back of a record-breaking 125-run victory at Trent Bridge on Tuesday, where they posted 201-7 before bowling India out for 76 — the tourists’ heaviest defeat by runs in T20 internationals. Josh Tongue led the rout with career-best figures of 4-28 and Jofra Archer took 3-29, the pair topping 90mph with the new ball.
India captain Shreyas Iyer described the Nottingham performance as “atrocious”, according to ESPNcricinfo, and his side must now win in Bristol to keep the series alive after the opening match in Durham was washed out. Selection remains a live question for the tourists, with the debate over Sanju Samson’s place rumbling on into the fourth match.
Victory for England tonight would seal the series 3-0 with one match still to play; an India win would send the sides to a live final game. The day-night fixture at the County Ground is live on Sky Sports Cricket this evening.
