Trent Rockets have signed veteran fast bowler Mohammad Amir for the 2026 edition of The Hundred, with the 34-year-old replacing the injured David Payne in the men’s squad.
Nottinghamshire confirmed the deal at Trent Bridge on Friday, with Payne continuing his recovery from an ankle injury. The timing is no surprise: Mohammad Amir is already in Nottingham, having joined Notts Outlaws for the remainder of the T20 Blast season, according to ESPNcricinfo, and he will represent the Rockets as a domestic player after recently gaining a British passport.
Mohammad Amir Brings 95mph Pedigree Back To The Hundred
The club’s announcement pointed to more than 800 career wickets across formats, with Amir previously clocked bowling at close to 95mph. He also knows what it takes to win this competition, having lifted the 2024 title with Oval Invincibles, the franchise now rebranded as MI London.
Geo Super also reported the move, which adds a proven new-ball operator to a Rockets attack reshaped by injury, and it follows a summer of T20 Blast squad reshuffles and landmark franchise cricket announcements.
The Hundred runs from 21 July to 16 August, per Sky Sports, and Trent Rockets stage their first home matchday of the campaign on Sunday 26 July at Trent Bridge — the first chance for home fans to see Amir with the ball in hand in Rockets colours.
