Tilak Varma Hits 136 Not Out As Medak Falcons Chase 259 In TG20

Tilak Varma hit an unbeaten 136 from 56 balls as Medak Falcons chased 259 to beat Warangal Warriors by three wickets in the Hyderabad Cricket Association’s Sreenidhi University TG20 on Monday.

The India T20I vice-captain produced the innings in Match 3 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad, days after leading India A to a tri-series title in Dambulla. Warangal had made 258/7, built around Aman Rao Perala’s 142 from 48 balls, before Tilak carried the chase home with two balls remaining.

Tilak Varma Gives India Timely Reminder Before UK Tour

The knock lands neatly before India’s T20I assignments away to Ireland and England, where Tilak is expected to carry senior responsibility in a reshaped white-ball group. According to India Today’s match report, he struck 14 fours and eight sixes, reached his hundred from 42 balls and added a decisive late stand with Vikram Naik, who made 27 from 12.

The context matters as much as the score. Tilak was not easing through a low-pressure chase; Medak needed 65 from the final five overs after slipping to 190/6. That he finished unbeaten, with the target still above 12 an over deep into the innings, gives India a form signal that is far more useful than a routine domestic fifty.

For Warangal, Aman Rao’s 32-ball hundred deserved a winning platform. Instead, Tilak turned a record-heavy night into his own selection statement.
