England Women’s T20 World Cup clash with West Indies at Lord’s on 24 June will carry a major fundraising strand after the ICC confirmed a Play For UNICEF matchday takeover in London.
The initiative brings together the ICC, UNICEF UK and the England and Wales Cricket Board, with supporters at Lord’s and viewers around the world encouraged to donate during one of England’s headline group-stage fixtures. The campaign has been attached directly to the England v West Indies matchday and carries a stated fundraising target of £100,000, according to the ICC’s official announcement.
England’s Lord’s Date Gets Wider Purpose
For England, the timing matters. A home World Cup fixture at Lord’s already gives Nat Sciver-Brunt’s side one of the tournament’s most visible stages, and the UNICEF takeover adds a broader focus beyond the scoreboard.
The ICC says the activation forms part of its Cricket 4 Good partnership with UNICEF, using the reach of a global event to raise both money and awareness for children around the world. That gives the match an added public-interest edge, especially with England playing at one of the sport’s most recognisable venues.
The cricket remains the centre of the day, but the message around it is clear: England v West Indies is now also a platform for a tournament-backed charity drive, with Lord’s positioned as the focal point for a campaign designed to reach well beyond the ground.
