Beth Mooney turned Australia’s Lord’s chase into another major-final statement as England’s unbeaten home World Cup run ended one step short of the trophy.
Australia beat England by seven wickets in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup final, reaching 153/3 in 17.1 overs after the hosts had posted 150/4. The result gave Australia a seventh Women’s T20 World Cup crown and a 14th women’s world title overall.
Mooney And Litchfield Break The Chase
Mooney made 64 from 49 balls, with 10 fours, and shared a 100-run stand in 67 balls with Phoebe Litchfield. Litchfield’s 48 from 35 removed England’s last real route back into the contest before Ellyse Perry and Ashleigh Gardner finished the chase.
England’s total had leaned heavily on Nat Sciver-Brunt, who made 58 from 53 after Australia struck twice inside the powerplay. Freya Kemp’s unbeaten 44 from 28 gave the innings late force, but the target never properly stretched Australia once Mooney settled.
For England, the defeat cuts across a tournament that had carried genuine momentum, from Lord’s ticket demand to the upcoming India Test already sitting on the calendar. For Australia, it is another reminder that the gap in knockout execution still runs through the same gold shirts, with Mooney again turning final pressure into controlled accumulation under the sharpest spotlight.
