South Africa Clinch T20I Tri-Series Title Over Zimbabwe

South Africa claimed the T20I Tri-Series title in Windhoek with a comprehensive 48-run victory over Zimbabwe in Sunday’s final.

The Proteas posted 205 for five and bowled their opponents out for 157, relying heavily on a secondary setup. Missing established white-ball starters through rest, alongside injuries to Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Andile Simelane, the backup players proved their depth. This success puts pressure on the primary squad, mirroring the international selection dilemmas recently sparked by youth squad additions elsewhere.

Jordan Hermann Strikes Maiden Fifty

Opening the batting in place of Pretorius, Jordan Hermann struck his maiden T20I fifty, making 53 from 29 deliveries. He formed an 84-run opening stand with Connor Esterhuizen.

Dewald Brevis and Rubin Hermann then attacked the middle overs to push the scoring rate forward before the lower order secured a commanding total.

“It was a good performance from us and a great cup to bring back home,” Jordan Hermann said.

Fortuin Dominates With Spin

The Zimbabwean chase stumbled immediately when Eathan Bosch removed Ben Curran for a first-ball duck. Duan Jansen tore through the top order before the slow bowlers took control.

Captain Bjorn Fortuin finished with three wickets for 24 runs as the required rate climbed out of reach. Brad Evans struck an unbeaten 56 from 31 balls in a late display of resistance.

“Happy to get the win, and it was pleasing to see different guys stand up,” Fortuin added.

South Africa next face Namibia in a three-match bilateral series.
