The International League T20 has promoted Mike Fordham to interim Chief Operating Officer with immediate effect, filling the administrative vacancy left by chief executive David White. Fordham has managed operations for the UAE franchise tournament since its launch in 2022. He steps up to direct Season 5, which runs across three host venues this November and December. White concludes a three-year tenure to return home to New Zealand, having established the six-team structure and navigated the competition’s initial growth phases.

Extensive Global Development Background

The interim chief brings two decades of commercial governance expertise to the expanding competition. Fordham formerly acted as chief executive for the Rajasthan Royals and assisted the Caribbean Premier League launch. During his time at IMG, he built a reputation for establishing commercial frameworks for new global franchises. He also contributed to early operational planning for The Hundred during a stint at the ECB. Detailing his history to The Standard, Fordham confirmed he operated “across all elements” of the initial 2008 IPL rollout.

Focus Shifts To Player Auction

This leadership restructure occurs amid a volatile week for global cricket administration, as Australian executives defend a controversial private equity framework and the Pakistan board manages an internal disciplinary probe. The upcoming ILT20 Development Tournament provides the next immediate administrative focus for the UAE tournament. This secondary event offers uncontracted domestic cricketers a formal pathway to secure squad positions before the main player auction finalises rosters for Season 5.
