Harleen Deol Joins Barbados Tridents For WCPL Run

India batter Harleen Deol has joined the Barbados Tridents for the remainder of the 2026 Women’s Caribbean Premier League following a late approach from the defending champions.

Deol becomes the fifth Indian player to enter the tournament, linking up with compatriots Pooja Vastrakar and Kiran Navgire in Barbados.

Late Caribbean Franchise Move

Currently operating outside both the senior India and India A setups, the franchise stint offers an unburdened environment to secure vital game time. Overseas developmental platforms provide fringe internationals a sanctuary to refine their approach away from national selection pressure, a dynamic recently seen with Marufa Akter’s Powerplay impact in regional competitions.

Focus On Personal Expression

Speaking during a virtual interaction, Deol explained her primary objective centres on mindset rather than technical overhauls.

“It was a very last minute call,” Deol told Zee News. “Franchise cricket is a little different, but its good for the experience and learning.”

The batter stressed the importance of stepping outside familiar domestic structures to test herself in new conditions.

“So, what I want is that I should just look to play freely, thats it,” she added. “Its just like, I just want to enjoy cricket, thats it.”

Deol is available for the Tridents’ next fixture against Jamaica Empress at Kensington Oval on 13 September.
