James Vince is among a select group of players in contention for a place in the inaugural T20 Hall of Fame, marking a significant moment in the recognition of domestic short-format cricket across England and Wales.
The Hampshire captain features on a six-player shortlist for the men’s category, underlining a career closely tied to the club’s success in the format. Vince has featured in each of Hampshire’s three T20 title-winning campaigns and remains the leading run-scorer in the history of the Vitality Blast, having amassed 6,357 runs.
Record-Breaking Numbers Strengthen Vince’s T20 Hall of Fame Case
His influence has been particularly notable in key moments. He captained the side to glory at Edgbaston in 2022 and played important roles in the earlier triumphs of 2010 and 2012. The 2010 success saw Hampshire become the first county to lift the trophy on home soil, while the 2012 campaign delivered a coveted white-ball double, reinforcing his long-standing impact in the competition.
Strong Hampshire Links Across T20 Hall of Fame Shortlist
Vince is not the only name with Hampshire connections on the shortlist. Former spinner Danny Briggs, a member of the 2010 and 2012 title-winning sides, is also in contention. In the women’s category, former Southern Vipers standouts Charlotte Edwards and Danni Wyatt-Hodge also earn recognition after a period of sustained success that delivered five trophies between 2016 and 2023.

How The T20 Hall of Fame Winners Will Be Decided
Selections for the Hall of Fame will be made by an independent expert panel made up of former players, commentators and journalists. The panel will choose two men and two women from the shortlisted candidates. Supporters will also have a role in shaping the outcome, with a public vote contributing as a weighted element in the final decision-making process.
Organisers will announce the first group of inductees on 15 May, shortly before the start of the 2026 Vitality Blast on 22 May.
Each year, the T20 Hall of Fame will recognise the players, coaches and figures who shape the domestic game through performance, leadership and long-term impact. Players, coaches and administrators from across the leading competitions in England and Wales are all eligible for future consideration.
