- Scotland lose to Oman by 12 runs in rain-shortened League Two match
- Oman dominate early as Scotland fall short in Windhoek clash
- Scotland remain second despite defeat in disrupted tri-series
Scotland lost to Oman by 12 runs as their challenging tour of Namibia continued in a rain-shortened World Cup League Two encounter in Windhoek.
The fixture was reduced to a 20-over contest after persistent poor weather disrupted the schedule once again. Earlier in the week, Scotland’s first meeting with Oman was washed out without a ball bowled, while their clash with hosts Namibia was also abandoned mid-match.

Oman dominate early with commanding opening stand
When play finally got under way, Oman seized the initiative with an impressive opening stand. Captain Jatinder Singh led from the front with a fluent 51, well supported by Ashish Odedara who struck 43, as the pair powered their side to 100 without loss at the halfway mark.
Scotland fight back with key middle-overs breakthrough
Scotland found a way back into the match shortly after. Both openers fell in quick succession and the momentum began to shift. Sayfaan Sharif delivered a decisive spell in the 15th over, removing two batters for ducks and reducing Oman to 127 for five. Michael Leask and Jack Jarvis added further pressure with two wickets each as Oman’s innings lost its earlier fluency.
A late push from Shakeel Ahmed, who finished unbeaten on 23, lifted Oman to a competitive 163 for seven from their allotted overs.
Scotland lose to Oman despite flashes of resistance
Scotland’s reply never fully settled. George Munsey fell early and Finlay McCreath followed soon after, leaving the chase on an unstable footing. Brandon McMullen briefly sparked hope with an aggressive cameo that included a boundary and back-to-back sixes, but his dismissal for 22 halted any building momentum. Captain Richie Berrington also departed cheaply as Oman tightened their grip.
Matthew Cross leads fight but late wickets prove costly
Wicketkeeper Matthew Cross offered resistance with a top score of 24, but Scotland’s hopes faded in the closing stages. Losing wickets in both the 18th and 19th overs proved costly, leaving too much to do in the final over despite a late flurry of runs. They closed on 151 for nine.
What this result means for the League Two table
Despite the setback, Scotland remain second in the League Two standings, though they have played more matches than leaders USA. Oman’s victory lifts them into third place and keeps the table tightly contested as the tri-series heads toward its conclusion.
