Punjab Kings continued their unbeaten start to the IPL season with a commanding 54-run win over Lucknow Super Giants in New Chandigarh, with Cooper Connolly underlining the importance of a positive dressing room behind their surge.

The Australian all rounder, who struck 87 off 46 balls, said the team’s success is rooted in a culture where players constantly learn from one another and enjoy the process.

“We all have discussions about what works for each other, and we take little things out of each other’s books,” Connolly said after the match in New Chandigarh.

“We’ve enjoyed sort of taking little notes off each other.”

Cooper Connolly and Priyansh Arya Lead Punjab Kings Batting Charge

Punjab Kings piled up 254–7, with Connolly playing a central role alongside Priyansh Arya. The pair added 182 runs for the second wicket, putting the game firmly out of reach.

Connolly admitted he was as much a spectator as a contributor during parts of the stand.

“I was at the other end just in awe a little bit there, because I couldn’t get off strike, but yeah, just enjoying watching him bat,” he said at the post match presentation.

He added that the approach remained simple and consistent.

“I think the game doesn’t change too much when you’re batting first, you’re just trying to play good cricket shots, put the pressure on the bowling attack, and take advantage of the loose balls.”

Shreyas Iyer Sets Tone for Punjab Kings Dressing Room

At the centre of Punjab Kings’ strong start is captain Shreyas Iyer, whose leadership has helped foster a relaxed and confident environment.

“He just leads by example, he’s always making his group feel comfortable around him, and he’s always about just trying to get better and encouraging people,” Connolly said during the media interaction.

Punjab Kings now sit top of the table with 11 points from six matches, their only dropped point coming in a rain affected fixture.

Cooper Connolly Stresses Focus as Punjab Kings Look Ahead

Despite their strong run, the team remains grounded. A few dropped catches during the match highlighted areas for improvement. However, Cooper Connolly was quick to keep the focus forward.

“Obviously, we would have liked to have taken those catches, but it’s cricket… so we just look to move forward and put our best foot forward for the next game,” he said.

With a settled dressing room and growing confidence, Punjab Kings are building momentum early in the season. For Cooper Connolly and his teammates, the blend of enjoyment and improvement continues to drive results on the field.
