- Lucknow Super Giants struggling in ninth
Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh wants to put his disappointing start in this season’s IPL behind him, as he has not yet hit his stride for Lucknow Super Giants. He had a poor T20 World Cup with Australia as well, as they were knocked out in the group stages.
Marsh this season
Marsh has only scored 155 runs at an average of 25.83, with a strike rate of 134.78. But he isn’t the only one struggling in the team. He is ranked 26th in the race for the Orange Cap, but he is second highest scorer for LSG, behind Aiden Markram, who has 162.
Last season, Marsh was fifth in the Orange Cap rankings, and top scorer for LSG. He scored 627 runs at 48.23, with a 163.70 strike rate.
On his own form, Marsh said:
“I probably haven’t got going. I think you can maybe search a little bit too much at times. I know that I’m probably one or two boundaries away from really getting going and it’s about being consistent with my preparations and knowing that it will come.”
Lucknow need some luck now
LSG are struggling to make the playoffs, sitting in ninth. They are on a three game losing streak. They face fourth place Rajasthan Royals later today, who themselves have lost their last two games.
Speaking about Lucknow’s form so far, he said:
“I’ve got great faith in this group. Our best cricket is ahead of us. It’s a long tournament and we’ve got great belief that we can challenge the best teams in the competition. I think if we can put together a full 40 overs as a unit, we’re going to be very hard to break.”
They will need that belief and a complete 40-over performance in every game if they are to reach the playoffs this season. With eight matches remaining, they must be at their best if they are to lift their first IPL trophy.
