Jaipur witnessed a remarkable display of fearless batting as teenage prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi lit up the Indian Premier League with a record-breaking performance that underlined his growing reputation as one of the game’s brightest young stars.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Fastest Ever to 1,000 T20 Runs

The 15-year-old Rajasthan Royals opener stormed to a breathtaking 103 off 37 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. His innings featured 12 sixes and five fours and included a century reached in just 36 balls, the third-fastest in IPL history. View the full scorecard of the match here.

In the process, Sooryavanshi became the fastest-ever player to reach 1,000 T20 runs, getting there in just 473 balls. The previous benchmark was held by Mitchell Owen, who needed 533 balls.

Only the iconic 30-ball hundred by Chris Gayle in 2013 and Sooryavanshi’s own 35-ball effort last season remain ahead in the list of fastest IPL centuries.

Fearless Batting Sets the Tone

There was little hesitation in Sooryavanshi’s approach. From the first over, he took control, launching four sixes to immediately put the bowlers under pressure.

His method was clear and confident. Rather than overthinking, he trusted his instincts and preparation, reading the bowlers and adapting his shot selection. The result was an innings that blended power with clarity of intent.

This was his second IPL century and it added to a remarkable run this season, which has already featured two explosive 15-ball half-centuries.

With such form, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is now firmly on the radar for national selection and could become India’s youngest-ever international player if called up for the series against Ireland cricket team in June.

Hyderabad Hold Nerve in High-Scoring Chase

Rajasthan Royals rode on Sooryavanshi’s brilliance to post 228 for 6 in 20 overs. That total looked imposing under the Jaipur lights.

However, Sunrisers Hyderabad responded with authority. Ishan Kishan struck 74 while Abhishek Sharma added 57 as the visitors chased down 229 for 5 with nine balls to spare.

The result keeps both teams on 10 points in a tightly contested playoff race, while Punjab Kings remain ahead on 13 points after their record-breaking chase earlier in the day.

Despite the defeat, the spotlight firmly belonged to Sooryavanshi. At just 15, he continues to rewrite records and expectations, offering a glimpse of a future that already looks extraordinary.
