Guyana Amazon Warriors captain Imran Tahir praised his new signing after the Bangladesh all-rounder claimed three wickets for 13 runs to secure a four-wicket victory over St Lucia Kings.
The 28-year-old seamlessly replaced Mohammad Nabi, who departed the franchise for Afghanistan’s international fixtures, during Wednesday’s preliminary-round match at Providence Stadium. Miraz removed John Campbell, Charith Asalanka and Kemol Savory in a highly restrictive four-over spell.
Seamless Mid-Tournament Spin Transition
Tahir completed the spin demolition with five for 17 to bowl St Lucia out for 119 in 18.5 overs. Speaking to CricTracker, the veteran leg-spinner highlighted how effortlessly the debutant filled their tactical void.
“We had Nabi, a very high-quality bowler and our best bowler,” Tahir said. “Miraj came in and bowled really well, exactly as we expected. It is really great to have him. Miraj is a world-class bowler who has been performing at international level all over the world.”
Sampson Innings Secures Top Spot
The hosts initially stumbled in their chase before Quentin Sampson struck an unbeaten 37 from 11 deliveries to reach the target with nine balls remaining. Miraz, batting at number five, managed just one run from four deliveries.
While the regional administration implements structural changes through Bob Carter’s batting consultancy, the Warriors maintain their franchise momentum. Their relentless bowling display showcased a level of control reminiscent of Josh Tongue’s devastating yorker at Edgbaston earlier this week.
Guyana now sit top of the CPL standings with 14 points from eight matches. Miraz remains available to the franchise for the remainder of the 2026 tournament.
