- RCB aim for playoff spot ahead of LSG clash
Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are making the most of a short break in the schedule, with several players flying to the Maldives ahead of their next match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 7, 2026.
A video of RCB players boarding a flight has gone viral on social media. In the clip, players such as Tim David, Romario Shepherd, and Josh Hazlewood can be seen heading out for the quick getaway.
RCB’s last outing came on April 30 against the Gujarat Titans, where the result did not go their way. With a seven-day gap before their next fixture, the break offers players time to recharge and regroup.
Meanwhile, RCB pacer Jacob Duffy shared a post of himself relaxing in the Maldives. However, reports suggest that Phil Salt has not joined the trip due to injury. The aggressive batter has missed the last three matches.
Prior to his injury, Salt was a key contributor to RCB’s batting line-up, scoring 202 runs in six matches at a strike rate of 168.33. His standout performance included a match-winning 78 against the Mumbai Indians, earning him the Player of the Match award.
RCB Players Head to Maldives During IPL Break
With Salt unavailable, teammate Jacob Bethell has stepped into the batting order. With both batters and bowlers contributing consistently, RCB look well-positioned to secure a playoff spot in the coming matches.
Veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar currently holds the Purple Cap with 17 wickets in nine games, leading a strong bowling unit that has made RCB one of the most formidable teams this season. After their short break, the team will aim to climb to the top of the table.
LSG Struggle for Momentum Ahead of Clash
Led by Rajat Patidar, RCB will next face a struggling LSG side that is still searching for form. LSG sit at the bottom of the points table with just two wins from nine matches, making this clash crucial for their campaign.
Captain Rishabh Pant will be keen to secure a win and boost his team’s confidence heading into the final stretch. RCB, on the other hand, are currently placed second with six wins and three losses from nine matches, giving them 12 points so far.
