Pakistan spinner Usman Tariq has signed for Warwickshire Bears for their upcoming T20 Blast campaign. His signing comes off of successful campaigns in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and the Caribbean Premier League.

Career so far

The 30-year-old spinner made his international debut in November 2025 against South Africa. In his second appearance for Pakistan, he took a hat-trick against Zimbabwe.

He has taken 18 wickets for Pakistan in nine matches at an average of 11.16 and an economy rate of 6.66. His strike rate is a wicket every 10 balls for Pakistan.

In his first season in the CPL last year, he took 20 wickets at 13.95. His economy rate was 7.31, and he took a wicket every 11.45 balls for Trinbago Knight Riders.

He has also played in the PSL, ILT20 and the Abu Dhabi T10, but now will play for Warwickshire Bears in the Blast, and the Phoenix in the Hundred this summer.

Over his short domestic T20 career, he has taken 89 wickets at 17.8. His economy rate is only 6.95, and he has taken a wicket every 15.3 balls.

‘The Type of High-Impact Player’

Warwickshire’s performance director, James Thomas said:

“Usman is exactly the type of high-impact player we want to bring into Warwickshire, so we’re delighted to get this deal completed. His skill set and tactical awareness make him a genuine threat in modern white-ball cricket, but it’s his hunger to compete and continually improve that really stands out.”

Tariq had this to say:

“I am very excited to bring more fun and energy to the Bears. I can’t wait to get involved with the squad and it’s a great feeling to be part of this team. I hope to see as many people as possible at Edgbaston this summer.”

His slingy, low-arm action has been the subject of attention several times in his short career, and has twice been reported by the on-field umpires in the PSL in 2024 and 2025. His action, however, was clearer on both occasions.
