It’s a bumper night of T20 action this evening with eight games on, plus one on Saturday evening. There are some cracking match-ups to focus on tonight so let’s get into those.
Durham v Yorkshire
It’s a battle of the top two teams in the North group as top side Durham take on second place Yorkshire. Both sides are unbeaten, having won two from two. So something’s going to have to give tonight.
At this early stage, Callum Parkinson for Durham is their leading wicket taker with five wickets. Jafer Chohan leads the way with the ball for Yorkshire with three wickets. With the bat, Alex Lees is Durham’s leading scorer so far with 99 runs and a 183.33 strike rate. Jonny Bairstow is Yorkshire’s top scorer in the tournament with 91 runs and a strike rate of 162.50
Northamptonshire v Gloucestershire
The Steelbacks currently sit top of the Central & West group, and their opponents, Gloucestershire are in third so a real tussle for supremacy tonight. Both sides are unbeaten, having won both their games.
Miles Hammond leads the way with the bat for Gloucestershire, having scored 73 runs with a strike rate of 178.04. Not far behind is the Steelbacks German Justin Broad, who has 67 runs to his name, with a 152.27 strike rate. Calvin Harrison is one of four bowlers with six wickets to his name for the Steelbacks. Gloucestershire boast the second leading wicket taker in Duan Jansen, who has seven wickets.
Hampshire Hawks v Surrey
In this third v first clash, Hampshire’s ranks have been boosted by the inclusion of Tristan Stubbs, who scored 69 off 42 balls to help the Hawks beat Essex. That came 24 hours after landing in England from playing in the IPL. Stubbs is Hampshire’s top run scorer with that innings.
Surrey sit top with two wins from two, with Sam Curran leading the way for Surrey with the bat. He has amassed 103 runs with a strike rate of 149.27. With the ball, Yousef Majid has five wickets so far, while Hampshire’s Scott Currie has one more with six wickets.
