Kishan Line Keeps India Debate Alive
India have already seen Kishan’s own stock climb sharply, with the BCCI confirming on 1 July that he had reached No.1 in the ICC men’s T20I batting rankings for the first time. That gives his assessment added weight: this is not a fringe voice talking up a prospect, but a senior white-ball figure speaking from a position of current authority.
Sooryavanshi has been a repeated ReadCricket storyline this summer, from his India-Ireland record watch to the earlier Stuart Broad warning around England’s T20I plans. Kishan’s backing now sharpens the selection question rather than softening it.
England’s own build-up remains live. The ECB lists the five-match India T20I series as starting at Banks Homes Riverside on 1 July, with Trent Bridge next on the schedule. In that context, every public India comment around a high-ceiling left-hander carries tactical meaning.
