Pakistan captain Fatima Sana has publicly ordered an immediate improvement regarding strike rotation and batting partnerships ahead of their knockout fixture against unbeaten Sri Lanka on Friday.
The directive follows a 72-run group stage victory over Hong Kong in Dubai on Monday.
While spinner Nashra Sandhu masked the side’s top-order frailties by recording figures of six for seven, the batting unit continued to struggle with momentum.
The captain, who recently faced ICC disciplinary action, rescued the innings with an unbeaten 24 from 24 deliveries.
Shawaal Zulfiqaar anchored the total of 143 for eight with 47 from 35 balls, recovering the innings after a middle-order collapse.
Pakistan were previously dismissed for 55 against India and managed just 119 for nine against Thailand.
Addressing The Batting Vulnerabilities
“I think in the batting side we need more, like strike rotation in the batting, and we need more partnerships. And we will try to sit together and discuss these things,” Sana confirmed.
Unbeaten Sri Lanka Await Pakistan
Group B leaders Sri Lanka won all three of their preliminary matches, presenting a significant challenge at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Pakistan must establish resilience to counteract opposition spinners, a tactical necessity mirroring the spin depth and middle order demands seen across the competition.
“So we just go and sit together and discuss a lot of things before the semi-final because we know that it’s a knockout match, so we will try,” Sana added.
The winner will advance to the championship decider against either India, Bangladesh or the United Arab Emirates.
