At a glance
- Runs for Joe Root and Ben Duckett
- More runs around the country
- All four games heading for draws
Day three of the County Championship games usually sees sides get into winning or losing positions. However, with the sun blazing down, making the pitches harder and easier to bat on, most of these games are heading for sides sharing the spoils.
Nottinghamshire v Warwickshire
This is the only game where there could be a winner and a loser. Nottinghamshire started the day on 264-8, still needed 195. The last two wickets fell quickly and Nottinghamshire were all out for 279. Michael Booth ending up with 4-71, to go with his 70 with the bat.
Warwickshire enforced the follow-on, and could regret that decision. Nottinghamshire set about occupying the crease, and the first wicket fell on 118, when Ben Slater was out for 48.
The second wicket partnership between Haseeb Hameed (115) and Ben Duckett (93) added 150 runs to put Nottinghamshire in control and hand them the lead. They closed the day on 310 for 4, leading by 130.
Warwickshire will need early breakthroughs if they are to push for a win, while Nottinghamshire will aim to bat through the day tomorrow and tighten their grip on the match.

Joe Root continued on his own way, whilst, firstly Matthew Revis (42) and George Hill(50) stayed around with him. Joe Root finally fell for 96 off 127 balls, as Yorkshire closed in on Sussex’s 502.
The Yorkshire tail wagged, with Jhye Richardson contributing 35 and Logan van Beek making 29. Yorkshire were eventually dismissed for 511, holding a slender lead of nine runs. For Sussex, Henry Crocombe and James Coles claimed three wickets each, while Fynn Hudson-Prentice picked up two for 78.
Sussex had 14 overs to negotiate late in the day, but early setbacks saw Daniel Hughes fall for nought and Tom Haines depart for 13. They closed on 31 for 2, leading by 22 runs.
If Yorkshire can strike early on the following day, the pressure will quickly shift onto Sussex as they look to bat out the contest.

The day closed with Jonathan Tattersall unbeaten on 86 and Ben Cox not out on 31, as Leicestershire reached 500 for 5 to lead by 60.
