Delhi Capitals were bowled out for 75 on Monday (27th April), which prompted a question – what is the lowest ever total in the IPL? Here is a list of the five worst scores ever in the IPL, starting with no 5.
5. Delhi Daredevils – 67
In the 2017 season, Punjab Kings bowled Delhi Daredevils out for 67, the lowest total in IPL history at the time. Captain Karun Nair (11), Corey Anderson (18) and Kagiso Rabada (11) got into double figures, with the next best being 6!
Sandeep Sharma led the attack and decimated the batting line up with figures of 4 for 20. Axar Patel (2-22) and Glenn Maxwell (2-3) got in on the action.

4. Delhi Daredevils – 66
A week later in the same season, Mumbai Indians bowled Delhi Daredevils out for 66 while defending a massive 213. Karun Nair made 21, Corey Anderson scored 10 and Pat Cummins added 10 as the rest of the batting collapsed.
Harbhajan Singh led the charge with 3 for 22 and Karn Sharma struck with 3 for 11. Lasith Malinga set the tone early with a devastating opening spell of 2 for 5.

3. Rajasthan Royals – 59
The third lowest total was by the Rajasthan Royals, who were bowled out for just 59 against Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2023. They were chasing 172 to win, but Wayne Parnell took 3-10 as he and the other bowlers destroyed Rajasthan Royals.
Only two players hit double figures. Joe Root scored 10, and amazingly out of a total of only 59 – Shimron Hetmyer scored 35 off 19 balls.

2. Rajasthan Royals – 58
Back to 2009, and in only the second season of the IPL, the Rajasthan Royals were again bowled out for 58 against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Chasing a modest 134 to win, Praveen Kumar (2-7) and Dale Steyn (0-6) bowled the first five overs for 13 runs.
However, it was the bowling on Anil Kumble to decimated the batting lineup. His figures of 5-5 off 19 balls is quite simply sublime. Three batters scored 11 runs each – Tyron Henderson, Yusuf Pathan and Ravindra Jadeja.

1. Royal Challengers Bangalore – 49
The lowest ever total in IPL history is 49 as the Royal Challengers Bangalore were skittled by Kolkata Knight Riders in 2017. However, when you look at the line for RCB in this game, you have to wonder how that was even possible?
Chasing a very modest 132 to win, and with the likes of Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers in the top four, that should be plain sailing…
The KKR bowlers had other ideas. Chris Woakes took 3-6 off 12 balls, Colin de Grandhomme had 3-4 off 10 balls, and Nathan Coulter-Nile’s spell of 3-21 had RCB reeling – not one batter made it to double figures. Kedar Jadhav top scored with 9.
