At a glance:

  • Kolkata Knight Riders registered their fourth straight win after defeating Delhi Capitals by eight wickets.
  • Cameron Green said KKR never lost belief despite a difficult start to the IPL 2026 season.
  • Finn Allen smashed an unbeaten 100 off 47 balls to seal the chase in just 14.2 overs.

Despite the Kolkata Knight Riders’ challenging start to the IPL season, all-rounder Cameron Green stated that the squad never lost hope and that their current comeback is the result of finally striking the right balance and combinations.

After spending a significant portion of the IPL 2026 season near the bottom of the points standings, KKR’s four straight victories, including an overwhelming eight-wicket triumph against Delhi Capitals here on Friday have restored their chances of making the playoffs.

“I don’t think the belief was ever gone. We’ve had a really good culture throughout the tournament. Even before we won a game, it hasn’t felt like we’ve lost every game by how upbeat everyone’s been.”

Finn Allen single-handedly finished the chase the score with an incredible unbeaten 100 off 47 balls after the KKR spinners held DC to a below-average 142 for 8.

KKR Find Right Team Combination

Green thought it took KKR a while to decide on the best lineup and batting positions.

“We obviously took a few games to work that out but it was best for me and what was best for the other guys on the team. We’ve got to a really good place with that now.”

Earlier in the season, the Australian all-rounder faced criticism after Cricket Australia refused to give him permission to bowl.

“The support staff never put any pressure on me, they’ve been awesome to me since day one. They never made it feel like there’s any extra pressure on me compared to anyone else in the team.

KKR defeated DC by eight wickets thanks to Allen’s 100 off just 47 balls, making it their fourth straight victory and continuing their comeback.

The New Zealand opener was left off the team after struggling in the tournament’s early stages. Another problem was that, up until that moment, he had never used the power play in any of the games he had played.

Cameron Green Praises Finn Allen for his Knock

He started to comfortably overcome the DC bowlers after taking a careful approach for the first six overs, and he ended the game with 5.4 overs left. Allen is among the greatest in the world at launching a well-planned attack on the bowlers following the power play, according to Green, who had the finest seat in the house.

“I wasn’t surprised by what he did tonight. Finn was exceptional today. He’s been really good for us – he’s got off to amazing starts every single time he’s been out there. That’s exactly what we have got him in the team for. He’s one of the best in the world at doing that and putting pressure back on.

As they enter the playoff race, Ajinkya Rahane and his squad will feel more confident in the upcoming fixtures. Meanwhile, KKR’s next fixture is against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on 13 May in Raipur.
