The World Championship of Legends will move its third season to the United Arab Emirates, confirming a 24-match schedule across Sharjah and Dubai between 3 and 18 October.
Departing the English grounds used in 2024 and 2025 fundamentally alters tactical approaches for the veteran tournament. Slower Middle Eastern surfaces and intense evening humidity will test physical endurance far more than previous editions.
Tournament regulations limit bowlers to two overs each, forcing captains to deploy at least six options per innings. Returning England recruits like Moeen Ali offer crucial all-round spin depth to navigate sluggish pitches and the condensed five-over powerplay.
Warner Debuts In Sharjah
David Warner makes his competition debut when Australia Champions face 2024 winners India Champions in the 3 October opener. The schedule also secures a high-profile Dubai fixture on 10 October, raising the stakes for the rescheduled India versus Pakistan meeting.
Organisers introduced Bangladesh Champions to create an expanded seven-team group stage. “Season 3 is about bringing the biggest rivalries and the biggest legends back together,” founder Harshit Tomar confirmed in a release published by livemint.
Co-owner Ajay Devgn added: “WCL is more than just a cricket league – it is emotion, nostalgia and entertainment coming together on one platform. Season 3 is going to be our boldest season yet.”
Veterans managing ongoing fitness concerns must balance this intense 15-day window against wider coaching roles, similar to the scheduling challenges seen during Bob Carter’s West Indies appointment.
Defending title holders South Africa Champions begin their campaign against West Indies Champions on 4 October.
