Gloucestershire v Lancashire

The rain came to save Gloucestershire this afternoon, as they ended the day on 124-6 after being put into bat by Lancashire. Jimmy Anderson was his usual unplayable self, bowling six overs for only seven runs, but it was George Balderson who starred with the ball today, as he tool 4-27 in 16 overs.

The overhead conditions helped the Lancashire bowlers, and Gloucestershire will hope clearer skies tomorrow. Ollie Price top scored for Gloucestershire so far with 35, and Ben Charlesworth scored 26.

Northamptonshire v Middlesex

Bad Light brought an early end to proceedings at Wantage Road this afternoon, with Middlesex 284-6 after winning the toss and electing tot bat.

MIddlesex might have regretted that decision when they were reduced to 20-3, but a partnership of 85 between Leus du Plooy (51) and Ben Geddes (65) helped steady the ship. At the close of play, Joe Cracknell (66*) and Zafar Gohar (62*) have put on an unbeaten 120 for the seventh wicket.

Ben Sanderson added to his tally of nine wickets this season, with 3-49 off 15 overs. Harry Conway has 2-63 off 17 overs, and Calvin Harrison has the only other wicket (1-57).

Northamptonshire will want to take early wickets in the morning to ensure that Middlesex do not get too many more. However, Middlesex will be looking to push on towards 350 and more.
