Rajasthan Royals seamer Nandre Burger has landed in hot water during the Indian Premier League 2026 after an on field incident in the clash against Lucknow Super Giants, drawing disciplinary action from the league.
The IPL confirmed on Thursday that the 30 year old left-arm quick has been fined 10% of his match fees. He also received 1 demerit point for breaching the Code of Conduct.
The charge relates to an on field exchange. It was deemed capable of provoking an aggressive reaction, highlighting the league’s strict stance on player behaviour.
Burger admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.5, which deals with the use of language or gestures that may inflame tensions on the field.

The league’s statement outlined the decision clearly:
“Nandre Burger, Bowler, Rajasthan Royals has been fined 10% of his match fees and has also accumulated 1 demerit point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct.
“The breach relates to Article 2.5, pertaining to using language, actions or gestures which could provoke an aggressive reaction from another player in the match,” the statement added.
Under IPL regulations, the match referee’s decision in Level 1 offences remains final and binding, bringing swift closure to the matter.
Rajasthan Royals Secure 40 run Win Over LSG
Despite the off field talking point, it proved to be a strong outing overall for Rajasthan Royals, who produced a polished all round display to defeat Lucknow by 40 runs.
