There was little to separate the sides for much of the evening in Jaipur, but Delhi Capitals held their nerve to complete a record chase and defeat Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in the Indian Premier League 2026 on Friday.

Delhi Capitals 226 for 3 (Rahul 75, Nissanka 62, Jadeja 1-33) beat Rajasthan Royals 225 for 6 (Parag 90, Ferreira 47*, Starc 3-40) by seven wickets. View the full scorecard here.

Delhi Capitals Chase Rewrites the Record Books

Set 226 to win, Delhi produced a confident batting display led by KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka, who powered the side to 70-0 in the powerplay. The pair maintained the tempo, bringing up the team’s 100 inside 9 overs and putting the chase firmly on track.

The first breakthrough came when Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Nissanka LBW. Nitish Rana then added impetus with 33 off 17 balls in a 61-run partnership with Rahul before Tushar Deshpande intervened.

Jofra Archer followed up by removing Rahul, leaving Delhi needing 49 off 28 balls. The contest tightened briefly, particularly in the penultimate over when Archer conceded just 5 runs from his first 5 deliveries.

However, a boundary off the last ball shifted momentum again, and Delhi required only 5 off the final over. Ashutosh Sharma ensured there were no further setbacks as Delhi completed their highest successful run chase in IPL history.

RR vs DC IPL Report: Parag Anchors Rajasthan Royals Innings

Earlier, Rajasthan posted 226-5 after being asked to bat. Riyan Parag led the innings with 90 off 50 balls, anchoring the effort after early setbacks. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi were dismissed inside the opening two overs, leaving the side at 12-2.

Parag and Dhruv Jurel rebuilt with a 102-run partnership that steadied the innings. Jurel made a useful contribution before falling at 114-3, after which Jadeja added 53 runs alongside Parag to maintain momentum.

Late Surge and Key Spells Shape the Result

Delhi regained control in the latter stages as Mitchell Starc struck twice in quick succession, finishing with figures of 3-40. A late surge from Donovan Ferreira, who scored an unbeaten 47 off 14 balls, lifted Rajasthan beyond the 220 mark.

The result leaves Rajasthan with 6 wins from 10 matches so far this season, while Delhi’s successful chase stands out as one of the most notable batting efforts of the campaign.
